AMORE : The tale begins with an imaginary wedding, but more on that later....the first hint of crime is a sad, blind man touring Vigata calling out plaintively for the return of his missing daughter Michela. Her life has been a harsh one, and she ends up working in prostitution. But it seems a relationship with Saverio Moscato will change all that.
Meanwhile, Montalbano has become involved with a pair of elderly actors who are rehearsing for a performance of Romeo and Juliet. But are also clearly preparing for their final performance. So two mysteries need to be solved, and in a further complication, Livia's old boyfriend has re-appeared via social media. The madness of love, and the unpredictable behaviours of those in love, is a theme that threads all 3 plots in this excellent episode of Inspector Montalbano. Oh, the wedding? It seemed to be Salvo and Livia...
THE MERRY-GO-ROUND : In the normally quiet town of Vigata, first one, then two, and soon three completely inexplicable kidnappings targeting women who work in banks. They feature cars in common, and a man utilising pads with chloroform yet no-one is harmed. And then, a mysterious fire at an electronics shop owned by a playboy named Marcello di Carlo who has disappeared. Clues are being laid out, but how to put the pieces together? Slowly, the story unfolds, and serious violent crimes are exposed. Inspector Montalbano and his team are challenged at every step in this compelling mystery.
