Fenek is quite fond of chatting, so he's puzzled when he encounters a peer in the café who doesn't speak... He wonders if perhaps the unfamiliar boy is afraid to talk. What's the issue? Why is it so, and can one communicate in silence too?

This book is about building relationships with individuals with selective mutism.

Through this little book, a child will:

Understand that some children may find it difficult to express themselves; Realise that our limitations do not define us; Learn about the existence of selective mutism and its characteristic features; Learn how to behave in the presence of a child who speaks little or not at all.

In addition to content that is age-appropriate for children and beautiful, colourful illustrations, the book also includes:

Questions to check understanding of the content,

Ideas for interesting activities to do with your child after reading the book,

Expert opinions from doctors, educators, psychologists, and many others.

Our fairy tales are the perfect way to spend time pleasantly, yet effectively with your little one.

It's not just a bedtime story, but something much more.

Not just a book for a one-time read, but an educational and nurturing aid.

And if you want to further develop work with the book, take advantage of the lesson plans tailored to the books, complete with all the necessary attachments. They will become a wonderful resource for both preschool teachers and parents.

Reviews for I'll Let You Know When I'm Ready: Children with selective mutism are around us

"""Another story that facilitates our actions as adults, while also advising children on how to cope in atypical situations. In my daily work, I deal with children with selective mutism. For children with normal intellectual abilities, it is very gratifying when the efforts of myself and my colleagues are rewarded with conversation from a child who previously remained silent - this process happens quite quickly. More energy must be invested in working with children with intellectual disabilities. Fenek once again shows his fans (children and adults) how to behave in unusual situations arising from relationships with other people. The content excellently reflects the needs of children with mutism and advises 'problem-free' children on how to cope when meeting a child with mutism. Katarzyna Bartosiewicz - psychologist, career advisor, oligophrenopedagogue The booklet perfectly illustrates how important it is to meet the basic needs of a child, such as the need for safety and acceptance, so they do not feel inferior, and then they are able to overcome various adversities. Joanna Drewczyńska - Biology teacher, oligophrenopedagogue Selective mutism is hardly ever talked about, yet it turns out to be a more common affliction in children than we think. Thank you for this title: ) Karolina Mutkowska - Caregiver in the oldest nursery group. Mother of 15-year-old Julka diagnosed with autism and 12-year-old Kuba, Asperger's Syndrome The booklet explains in a suggestive yet simple way what selective mutism is. The described situation in the cafe is well known to children, and the additional plot of a child with a disorder brings a rare problem closer. Thanks to simple situations, it is easier for children to draw conclusions. Knowing the symptoms, they know how to cope in a similar situation. This story is extremely valuable, prompts reflection, and encourages conversation. The completion of the booklet with a psychologist's comment is a valuable aid for parents and teachers. Magdalena Myga - Preschool and early school teacher, parent The ""Relationships II"" book series and its individual parts are very heartwarming, especially because it addresses quite difficult topics, but in a very compact, clear to the child, and pictorial way. It is very important to show children from the earliest years that people are different, they may look different and behave in ways not always understandable to us, but that does not mean that they cannot be befriended. In the series of books, it is especially worth noting that they clearly describe the most important features, e.g., of people with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, mutism, or hyperactivity, so that the child can better imagine these behaviours, and perhaps even assign them to an already known friend - parents do not always know how to explain these issues to a child, but here they have a ready introduction to further conversation and education. However, what was most important to me was that they show how to behave towards a given person to help them and that friendship is very much possible in this case: ). It is worth teaching children about diversity, and thanks to Fenek they have such an opportunity. Alicja Formaniewicz-Szyndler - psychologist, cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist"
