Getting Connected Online and on the Ground has the inside scoop on how to get it done. Knowing the drill is half the battle and author, Anne O'Connell, and other expats who weigh in with their advice and experiences, are happy to share a few 'how tos' with any and all newcomers. Reading Anne O'Connell's @Home in Dubai is like sitting down with a friend over a cup of coffee and having all your questions answered. Zvezdana Rashkovich, author, Dubai Wives http://zvezdanarashkovich.webs.com Having lived in Dubai for over 30 years and running my own training company for three, I thought I knew it all. @Home in Dubai offers a wonderfully chatty insight into the how's, why's and wherefore's of living in Dubai. And it's not just for the newbies either! There's fabulous advice for established entrepreneurs too. Lucy Hay, chief excellence officer, Expressions Arabia www.expressionsarabia.com It's a much-needed hospitable host, who agrees to hold your hand through the raw and rough days of migrating to a new country. Suchitra Chaudhary, senior feature writer, Friday Magazine, Gulf News www.gulfnews.com Anne has written the guide that I wish I had had when I moved to Dubai. Filled with case studies, personal anecdotes, practical advice, and tips on how to tap into social media for up-to-date information and insights, this guide will make every expat's transition go much, much smoother. Her section on children and teens is especially insightful and honest, and I highly recommend that any expat family heed her advice before making the move. Anne O'Connell, has been an expat since 1993 when she and her husband escaped the cold of Toronto, Canada and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They enjoyed the sun and sand for 14 years, while she worked in the PR field, and then decided it was time for a new adventure. Heading for even more sun and sand, they moved to Dubai in late 2007. After getting settled, O'Connell started a freelance copy writing business specialising in marketing, corporate communications, public relations, social media and website content. Along with being a writer and editor for the @Home in - series, O'Connell is also a contributing writer for Suite101 and has been recognized twice with an Editor's Choice Award on the Fiction Writers' Platform. From Spanish emersion in Guatemala to swimming with the elephants in Koh Chang, Thailand, O'Connell's adventurous spirit has taken her all over the world. She has visited 25 countries with many more to explore. Moving to Dubai gave her the opportunity to see a whole new part of the world, to experience new cultures and allow her to focus on her true passion - writing. O'Connell grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia and has a bachelor of public relations from Mount St. Vincent University.
