Good Boy Alchemy is an engrossing debut novel that I found hard to put down. Written mostly in the first person, the millennial protagonist shares his inner-most thoughts, insecurities and preoccupations, which are sometimes crass and often laugh-out-loud funny, (the dialogue is particularly good). Added to this mix is a smattering of philosophy, an insider's view of cult mentality, and a disturbing and emotional reveal. I look forward to reading more of this author's work. Fantastic coming-of-(middle)age memoir-esque novel! The author uses descriptive prose that immediately draws you into his world. At times I was reminded of Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, Choke) with a style that is structured with both ordered and train-of thought reflection, as well as the sometimes-crude thoughts we all think but never say out loud. Definitely a story with a protagonist that many (especially millennials) will relate to and that will inspire the reader to consider their own past/path and reflect on their relationships and worldview. My favorite kind of book - something that left me wanting to just dive deeper and keep following the life and world of the main character. Highly recommend
