Synopsis: After fifteen years of teaching golf, it became apparent to Mark that many beginners are inhibited in their learning process by a lack of basic knowledge-and that many golf teachers don't recognize this. This book is designed to help the beginner and interested non-golfer leap past the awkward stage that each novice experiences.
Like French, English, or Japanese, the language of golf is unintelligible to someone learning it for the first time as an adult. Golf 101 is the definitive guidebook to the language and concept of golf. It fills in the gaps for golfers and non-golfers alike.
Autobiography: I grew up in a small town in North Central Michigan and began playing golf at the age of eight. As a teenager, I played competitively and continued to do so in college and the US Army from 1969 to 1971. In 1974, I became a PGA Golf Professional and spent 30 years teaching nearly 30,000 golf lessons to players of all levels. In 2003, I invented a putting aid called The PuttingTemplate (www.theputtingtemplate.com). In 2008, I joined my wife in the insurance industry, and together we own CCIS Insurance Group, a retail agency in Fresno, CA. Now, at age 77, I still play golf regularly and write sparingly.
