Robert L. Zimdahl is a Professor of Weed Science at Colorado State University. He received his Ph.D. in Agronomy from Oregon State University. Among his many honors and awards, Dr. Zimdahl was elected a Fellow of the Weed Science Society of America in 1986 and currently serves as editor of that society’s journal, Weed Science. He has been a member of several international task forces and has authored a number of books and articles on the subject of weed science. He is the author of Fundamentals of Weed Science, and Six Chemicals that Changed Agriculture both from Elsevier. Dr. Basinger is an assistant professor of Weed Science at the University of Georgia in the Department of Crop and Soil Science. He received both his Masters and PhD from North Carolina State University in Weed Science. Dr. Basinger’s research focus is on the alteration and manipulation of the agroecosystem to reduce the impacts of weeds. He also is devoted to Integrated Weed Management (IWM) as a means to manage weeds, minimize potential for herbicide resistance, and improve productivity of desirable crops in crop and non-crop systems. Dr. Basinger is responsible for teaching several weed science courses at the University of Georgia. He is an active member of the Southern Weed Science Society and the Weed Science Society of America, is a board member on the Southern Cover Crops Council, and a member of the Getting Rid of Weeds (GROW) Initiative.
