Georgie Cooney works for the Dyslexia Association of Ireland (DAI) and teaches students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). She first worked as a classroom teacher both in the UK and in the USA, and then re-trained in the field of language and literacy. After becoming a dyslexia specialist, she has lectured, trained teachers, managed and coordinated Inclusion and Special Educational Needs in both mainstream and specialist settings. Georgie is also the author of Who Put the Spell into Spelling? – a beautifully illustrated storybook and workbook set designed to help children remember and use spelling rules. She seeks to improve the literacy skills of all children and adults, in the hope that this will widen their opportunities in life.
