Fresh water supplies are not only vital to river fisheries, they sustain the fisheries of associated wet land and influence estuarine and inshore marine fishes, although fisheries are usually non-consumptive users of water. However water is required in particular quantities and seasonal timings of flows in rivers and their dependent water lands, lakes and estuaries ensure water sources. There is competition prevailing between the use of water that is used for agriculture and the provision of water in the quality and quantity required for fish production and services generated by inland aquatic ecosystems. An attempt is made on these lines in this study.
