Colour coding quickly shows where the exceptions occur and mind associations make the exceptions easy to remember. For example, once you start visualising the 'e' in 'nous mangeons' (we eat) as a mouth opening up, ready to gobble up any food in sight, it will become second nature to add it every time you conjugate 'manger'.

There are memory tricks to help you remember the meaning of verbs too. To remember that 'tenir' means 'to hold', think of the verb tenaciously holding on to a cliff edge. Even better, once you can conjugate 'tenir' it's easy to remember 'venir' (to come) as they conjugate in the same way, especially if you imagine inviting people to come (venir) to a venue.
