Reviews for Equity Now: Justice, Repair, and Belonging in Schools

Readers will feel ignited by Tyrone Howard’s revolutionary charge: We need equity now! He reminds us that no longer can we wait idly by while our children’s educational rights are being withheld, and no longer can we engage in educational practices that have not elevated the lives of our children. In Equity Now, Dr. Howard responds to historical and sociopolitical inequities and provides a practical framework rooted in (1) justice, (2) recognizing and repairing past harms, and (3) belonging. This book is a comprehensive guide for anyone and everyone who truly seeks to advance equity in and around schools. -- Gholdy Muhammad Equity Now serves as a catalyst, urging us to be bold, courageous, and brave as we advocate for what we know is right. It equips us with the necessary language, resources, strategies, and practices to rectify the injustices perpetuated by our educational system. This book transcends being a mere guide; it is our pathway forward. Each page resonates with reasons why I hold Dr. Howard in the highest regard. -- Bettina Love
