As a child, he didn't stop drawing. Then he began to sing, to play the piano and percussion, and somehow, a trombone fell into his hands. And he kept drawing. He studied the trombone, and with it, he traveled around Colombia, Europe, Central America, South America, and North America, sometimes playing, sometimes teaching, and sometimes conducting. But he kept drawing. Today, he is still teaching, playing, writing, and conducting. And yep, he keeps drawing. Ruben Rodriguez is the Director of the Yale School of Music - Music in Schools Initiative, New Haven. He studied trombone performance at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon, and received his Master in Music from the Yale School of Music. For more than 30 years, he has been performing, teaching, coaching, conducting ensembles, and promoting music education worldwide. He has created and coordinated several artistic projects in underprivileged communities, bringing music into the lives of thousands of children. He lives in New Haven, CT, near the shore, with his wife and is the father of three amazing men. As a child, he didn't stop drawing.
