‘This book is essential reading for anyone in a healthcare provider role. It provides a clear and accessible description of the Relational Skills Model and explains how to build and maintain productive relationships with patients and colleagues alike. The methods described are vital to supporting people through clinical investigations and health related changes. This is a ‘go to’ resource for healthcare providers, practitioners, and students.’ Dr Helen Pryce, Aston University ‘The relational skills model is one that can be used effectively in so many contexts to capture lived experience and personal insights. The authors have done a superb job in presenting the model and theories in an accessible way. This material will be essential for all readers, as it combines both research and practical application.’ Dr Nisha Dhanda, University of Birmingham, UK; Assistant Professor (Public Health) and Audiologist ‘For experienced coaches this is an excellent reminder of the core skills of active listening, empathy and effective questioning alongside ethical considerations and goalsetting. It reinforces the relational and interpersonal skills that are common to both counselling and coaching. Clearly written, with real examples and self-reflection exercises that ensure the coach remains effective and compassionate in their work. This book is a must read for coaches who are committed to fostering transformative relationships with their clients.’ Bev Couzens, Executive Coach
