She went on to study fashion and textile design and became a children's wear designer, illustrator and interior designer. Vanessa now specializes in silkscreen work (www.vanessamooncie.com) and designing crochet jewelry through her company Kissy Suzuki (www.kissysuzuki.com). She lives with her family in a rural village in the south of England. """The patterns and the layout are whimsical and inspiring... Overall, this is a great book for confident beginner crocheters, or more advanced crocheters looking for fun home decor projects.""-- ""Underground Crafter"" Let me say that Vanessa is a genius! These rugs are incredible. This book included beautiful photos of each rug and each pattern had about 12-15 pages. It was beyond anything I've ever seen. This book must have taken her a long time because there were step-by-step instructions and a guide to joining in colors and adding all the finishing touches to complete each rug. I definitely recommend this book -- ""Sweetly Made Just for You"" ""The textile taxidermy trend is the gift that keeps on giving, and Vanessa Mooncie's latest collection of crafted creatures is just as delightfully decorative and humorous as any of her earlier books. As well as plenty of plain crochet to form the rugs, there are interesting details to make such as tasselled tails, tufty manes, the tiger's stripes, the crocodile's bobbled back and the stuffed, shaped heads. It's very hard to pick a favourite here as they're all so adorable, but the Fox has a really cheeky look in his eye, the details on the Rhino's head are fascinating to look at, let alone to make, and the Giraffe's long, patterned, maned neck just looks brilliant."" -- ""Knitting Magazine"""
