This survey of over twenty examples of India's finest contemporary residential architecture gives exclusive, and often unprecedented, insight into private houses across the country built by an array of leading and up-and-coming architects, including Architecture Brio, Matharoo Associates, Abraham John Architects, Khosla Associates, the Pritzker Prize-winning B. V. Doshi and more. Revealing India's thriving architectural scene, the featured projects span the country, from the western coasts of Goa and Maharashtra and the inland waters of the Western Ghats, to inner-city havens in Ahmedabad and Mumbai and the banks of the river Ganges in the north. Illustrated with photography by Edmund Sumner, and including architectural plans, the book also features introductory essays that explore India's residential architecture in the context of the country's varied landscapes and climates and historical influences.
