Eight-year-old Charlotte wants to be a doctor when she grows up, just like Dr. Granny Snow. Her grandmother gives her a doctor's bag for her birthday, with a real stethoscope and bandages. Charlotte tries to save every animal that she finds: frogs, bumblebees, butterflies, and a turtle. Some she can save, others she can't.

When her dad finds a little puppy covered in cuts and bruises shivering behind a dumpster on a stormy night and brings the tiny animal home, Charlotte is thrilled to take care of him. She names him Boo Boo. Charlotte's compassionate nature, and the nursing skills she learned from her grandmother, help restore Boo Boo to good health. Simon, Charlotte's best friend, has a dog named Butch. Boo Boo and Butch often play together and become good friends, too.

In third grade, Charlotte and Simon have a new teacher from India named Mrs. Sharma, who teaches them about compassion. She explains that compassion is being kind, even to people you don't really like. The kids all roll their eyes, but once Charlotte understands what compassion means, she explores her own nature and finds heroes she admires.

Lavishly illustrated with magical iPad paintings, the book includes membership to, ""Kids Club Doggos,"" and a special feature section called, ""Charlotte's Kings and Queens of Compassion.""
