It was a unique time at a unique place to be playing Division One football. The odyssey we braved prepared us for futures filled with duty, responsibility, and purpose. Football is unique in the world of team sports for the distinct challenges it presents and the lessons it provides. The Team comes first. Discipline, toughness and perseverance are rewarded. Essential life lessons are learned. Though we were not always triumphant when the final whistle blew, on November 21st, 1992, our team was redeemed the cost of the sacrifice. This is our story.

Following his graduation from The Virginia Military Institute in 1993, Colonel Holbert served 25 years on Active Duty in the United States Air Force. He is now a Boeing 737 Captain for United Airlines. His son, Tyler, is a police officer in Omaha, NE. His daughter, Maddi, lives in Richmond, VA, where she teaches 6th Grade English. Colonel Holbert and his wife Bobbi reside in Winchester, VA.
