Matt Chun is a studio artist, independent writer and children's author, dividing his time between Gadigal and Yuin country, and Taipei. Matt lives, works and travels with his 8-year-old son, making portrait and landscape studies across a range of drawing media. He has completed tenures as artist-in-residence in Australia at Casula Powerhouse, Nishi Gallery and New Acton Precinct; and in Taipei at Bamboo Curtain Studio and Guandu International Art Festival. As a writer, Matt primarily explores Australian nationalism and the semiotics of public space, most recently for Overland Literary Journal, Meanjin Quarterly and Runway Experimental Australian Art. Australian Sea Life is Matt's second picture book for Little Hare Books. His first, Australian Birds, was released in 2018 and has been listed as a Children's Book Council of Australia Notable Book.
