This book chronicles Archibald Mosman's life as wealthy merchantman, whaler, grazier, vast landholder in both New South Wales and New Zealand, and early merchantman days in Edinburgh and Liverpool.
It examines the forces that drove him during his contentious time as magistrate in Armidale, through to his final days in virtual obscurity in Randwick at Byron Lodge.
"Dimity Mortensen was born and educated in Sydney. She lived in London for seven years, working at Christie's Fine Art Auction House and travelling through the Middle East, Europe and Eastern Europe including Russia. She decided to return home to Australia to start her career as a writer, and has since been published in some of the top literary journals in Australia. Her first novel, Love: A Parable Without a Moral, published in 2008, was positively reviewed by the Gold Coast's Weekend Bulletin as ""Imaginative"" describing it as, ""In a word: Compelling."" The Gatton, Lockyer and Brisbane Valley Star, Wolykat, likewise highly praised it as, ""...a book that I would recommend to anyone..."" This was her first non-fiction book."
