"The book ""Tay and Friends Early Science Readers: Aleeyah Makes Playdough"" follows Aleeyah, a curious and adventurous young girl who loves science and dreams of making things in the kitchen. With the help of her friends and her parents, who are scientists, Aleeyah conducts experiments to discover the secret ingredient that makes play dough soft and squishy.

Are you looking for a fun and motivating book to introduce the concepts of kitchen chemistry to children? Aleeyah Makes Playdough is the book for you!

Meet Aleeyah, one of Tay's STEM-loving friends who likes to figure out how things work. Her parents are scientists so she spends a lot of time in labs. At home, the kitchen is her lab where she does many experiments and learns about chemistry.

Aleeyah loves baking and has baked a lot of things with her mom. She wonders if play dough is made the same way as bread. She also wonders what makes playdough so soft. Like a real scientist, Aleeyah researches and goes into the lab to find answers.

What discoveries will Aleeyah make? Will her friends come by to join her in the lab?

"Phelicia is a native of California and has her roots in the Bay Area. She's a wife, mother, grandmother, author and a publisher. She has a Masters in Reading Leadership with a focus on Multicultural Literature. Her twenty years in education includes working for private, charter and public schools. She admits one of her greatest joys in teaching included teaching her own four children to read. It was during the homeschool years that she learned that not all children learn the same way and that there isn't a ""one size fits all curriculum."" She's currently a First Grade Teacher and sits on the board of Contra Costa County's Local Planning Council for Early Care and Education. After creating and successfully coordinating a summer Kindergarten Intervention Program for African American Children within her local school district, she continues to advocate for early literacy by participating on the design team for Ready Kids East County. Considering that Phelicia is a literacy advocate and very passionate about early literacy, both the Ready Kids Easy County, and the Local Planning Council positions suit her well. Teaching students to learn to read well, think critically, and develop a love of literacy is a portion of her work. Assuring students have access to literature that reflects their lives and cultures in a positive light is the fuel of her passion. Thus, writing and publishing books for beginning and early readers is a byproduct of her company's mission. She writes so African American children can say, I see Me On the Page."
