<br>GOZO SHIODA (1915-1994) studied with Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of modern Aikido, and was his foremost student. He held the ninth-rank black belt and founded the Yoshinkan school, where he was the chief instructor. He was also the chief instructor for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, the Air Self-Defense Force, the Japanese National Railways and several universities. His son, YASUHISA SHIODA, succeeded his father.<br>
