Paolo Di Nardo, MD, is an experimental and clinical cardiologist and directs the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Cardiology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is founder of the Japanese-Italian and Canadian-Italian Tissue Engineering Laboratories and a member of the Board of the National Institute for Cardiovascular Research (INRC), Italy. He acts as scientific advisor of major international organizations and member of international scientific societies, and is the author of several papers published in peerreviewed international scientific journals and editor of various books. In 1994,he organized the first international congress in which the possibility of heart regeneration in mammalians was analyzed. Since then, his major interests have been in stem cell and tissue engineering technology.
