""The book looks fine covering the basics of the additive manufacturing field. The chapters are well written and explain the material well."" —Charles Cartin, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, USA ""This work, edited by Srivatsan (Univ. of Akron) and Sudarshan (president and CEO, Materials Modification), surveys many aspects of additive manufacturing. It includes 17 papers/chapters and begins with a 48-page paper written by the editors and an additional author titled ""Additive Manufacturing of Materials."" The following chapters cover free space deposition, laser melting, manufacturing techniques, and powder-based additive manufacturing. In additional chapters, contributors discuss process parameters, gas-permeable structures, manufacturing ceramics, ink-jet printing of nylon, and medical applications of additive manufacturing. The book concludes with a discussion of rare earth magnets. This is not an introduction to the field of additive manufacturing but a survey of several techniques and applications of the technology. Although the levels of difficulty of the different chapters vary, the book is primarily written for experts in the field, not novices."" —CHOICE, September 2016 ""Overall, this text on additive manufacturing provides a solid background for understanding the immediate past, the ongoing present, and emerging trends, with an emphasis on innovations and advances in its use for a wide spectrum of manufacturing applications, including the human healthcare system."" —International Journal of Microstructure and Materials Properties, 2016 Vol. 11 No. 5 ""The book looks fine covering the basics of the additive manufacturing field.
