Michel Le Bellac is Emeritus Professor at the University of Nice. He has published three other books with Cambridge University Press: Thermal Field Theory (1996), Equilibrium and Non-Equilibrium Statistical Thermodynamics (with Fabrice Mortessagne and G. George Batrouni, 2004) and Quantum Physics (2006).
'... stands above other worthy introductory books, such as Quantum Approach to Informatics by Stig Stenholm and Kalle-Antti Suominen (Wiley-Interscience, 2005). ... Le Bellac's book is designed as a self-contained, short introduction ... It fully succeeds in its mission.' Physics Today '...M. Le Bellac provides a vivid, concise, and consistent, well written and rather elementary introductory to quantum computing that can be recommended for the readers of a rather broader circle who have some nontrivial background in quantum mechanics. Zentralblatt MATH '... exceptionally well written (and translated) and ... although not easy, due to the non-intuitive nature of the subject, will amply repay the commitment it demands and enable one to get up to speed in the subject.'
