In recent years avian nutrition has become her big passion and she has dedicated a significant amount of her time researching and educating herself about avian nutrition from the best and fully qualified experts in the avian field. What set her off on this journey was her Lesser Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, Polly, and her battle with a series of unexpected health issues. Since then she has turned this passion into a purpose to advocate and inspire other parrot owners to transition their flock onto fresh foods and point out how diet plays a crucial role in birds' lives. Karmen is originally from a small country in Europe called Slovakia. Since childhood, she had a creative streak, which led to studying fashion design in her college years. Fashion remained a hobby and she moved on to a career in the corporate environment. She moved to the United Kingdom in 2004, intending only to stay for a few years, but settled there with her family. She has the most demanding, feathered, velcro cockatoo, called Polly, that consumes a majority of the family time. Polly is a toddler that will never grow up. There are also new additions to the family of four delightful budgies and an Indian Ringneck Parakeet, Rio, who's the family's little chatterbox.
