I think it's fair to say the idea of writing the book came by sheer accident. The foundations were laid, when my wife had vocalised an issue she had with me, leaving dirty laundry on the bedroom floor. Not much I could do at this point but bow my head in shame, whilst she delivered an ear bashing.

Then feeling somewhat deflated, I found myself needing a little victory, it was at this point, I decided to post our converse on social media. Of course, I twisted the truth and used humour as a tactic, not just to get victory, but hoped it would make her and others laugh, and it did just that.

This opened a door, and over the next six days menopausal madness was a catalyst for comedic value. We had so much positive feedback, I had my arm bent to turn these 7 days into the book it is today. Like our marriage, it's a blueprint of chaos and laughter!

Reviews for A Husband's Take on the Menopause!

Carol McIntyre 5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious! A must read for Men and Women Curious About Each Other's Perspectives Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 May 2024 Verified Purchase This weekend, I was engrossed in a serious book when I noticed my husband laughing in the background. His reading material? A book written by our friend Nige Porter, titled 'A Husband's Take on the Menopause.' This got my curiosity going so when hubby finished and put the book down, I stealthy grabbed the book to see what all the fuss was about. Fair warning, some might find his humour a bit cheeky! But if you're a woman and wondering what actually goes on in a man's head, this is a must-read! I promise you'll be very surprised. Sure, some might raise an eyebrow at his take, but trust me, it's all in good fun. And let's face it, sometimes you've got to laugh to keep from crying, especially when it comes to understanding what's going on in a woman's head during the big M. Underneath it all, you can tell he genuinely cares about Helen and that's what makes this book more than just a chuckle-fest-it's a love letter (albeit a funny one) to navigating the rocky waters of menopause with his sanity intact. Now, I won't spoil all the funniest bits, but let's just say Nige's take on supermarket meltdowns had me in stitches. Who knew a trip down the frozen foods aisle could be so entertaining? So, if you're up for a laugh and a fresh perspective on the whole menopause thing and want a good laugh, give Nige's book a whirl. Just remember to keep an open mind and a sense of humour handy. After all, life's too short to take menopause-or Nige-too seriously!
