"Kachchh is characterized by its vast size and semi-arid climate with add-on of soil and water salinity, extreme temperatures and livelihood issues. This has made the district sparsely populated with thin vegetation cover. Consequently, the importance of plant species capable of substantially rejuvenating the ecological, economic and human health of the district cannot be underscored more. The resilient native communities have harnessed the potential of date palm, dadam (pomegranate), dragon fruit and drumstick, christened here as ""4Ds of Kachchh"". These crops have not only opened up new avenues for bolstering farm incomes but are slated to positively contribute to the nutritional and ecological well-being of the district."
