"This book is labeled as young adult fiction, but as a senior adult, I found the characters compelling and interesting, and young people I'd like to know. The author deals with complex issues surrounding coming of age, discomfort with grieving and celebrating simultaneously, and ultimately, finding hope in recognizing that we aren't alone in our struggles. It made me laugh, cry, and think. What more can one ask of a well-written book? ""Yesterday, I Was Fine"" is a captivating journey through the complexities of the human experience, beautifully crafted by Hope Johnson. Johnson's writing is deeply evocative, drawing readers into her world with vivid imagery and heartfelt emotion. From the highs of joy and love to the lows of pain and despair, she bares her soul with raw authenticity, inviting readers to connect with her on a profound level. When a book can make you laugh and cry multiple times, that is the marker of a great book for me!"
