"""Hard-edged and soft-hearted, Carolyn Colburn bats you around for a while, and then all of a sudden you're there, sunk three feet into domestic tales of love, horror, compassion, and living the life. An amazing read. Irreverent, painful, and full of heart, Carolyn pulls you into her 'elusive longing for revelation, ' and you're never quite the same."" --Ellen Bryson, Author of The Transformation of Bartholomew Fortuno ""Ms. Colburn is an astute observer of life -- the trivial and the momentous. She is also funny as hell. I must give this book my highest compliment -- I wish it was twice as long. I have more praise to dispense, but I need to get back to the basement to search for Morlocks."" --John Fleer, Author of Dirty Doctors ""Through episodes that leap and turn, Carolyn Colburn's unique voice tells the tale of raising a troubled child in a troubled world. Morlocks in the Basement is a brilliant debut memoir -- fast, funny, wholly original, and deeply moving. Move over Amy Poehler."" --Kathleen Novak, Author of Do Not Find Me"
