Stand up for what you believe in, no matter where you are!

Noah and Justin are two similar brothers, but with one visible difference. One weekend at a cousin's birthday party and one comment at the lunch table prompts Justin to implement a change in his life. He jumps into action so that he can knock down and change the social and cultural barriers that he sees happening in his middle school. What better way to generate change than to bring awareness to the problem?

Filled with advocacy, activism, and organizing, Differences Matter, Diversity Matters: A Story About My Brother and Me brings awareness to the lack of social and cultural awareness in Justin's middle school. Do you think 11-year-old Justin has what it takes to generate change?

Justin Blount is an 11-year-old young activist who is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion. He loves music, because he believes that music has a way of bringing people of different cultures and nationalities together. Justin was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and at a young age he saw the need for bringing awareness for racial equality. When Justin grows up, he wants to have a career as a music instructor. Young Authors Publishing is a children’s book publisher that exists to share the stories of Black & Brown children. We believe that all kids are story-worthy and should see themselves reflected in the books they read. We also believe in writing our future, which is why we publish books that reflect how diverse our world is. Our two-part mission is to produce diverse and culturally relevant children's books and to use book publishing as a vehicle to economic mobility for our young authors. Royalties from their book sales are deposited into our authors' savings accounts for their post-secondary plans.
