Thomas Korcok (pronounced Korchok) developed Grace Evangelical Lutheran School in Pembroke, Ontario, and taught Logic to the upper grades. This initiated an interest that led to researching the application of the Liberal Arts in an elementary setting. From 2014-2021 he served as Associate Professor of Theology at Concordia University Chicago where he taught Christian education courses. While there he also developed a center for the research of the Lutheran Liberal Arts and a classical pedagogy program. Dr. Korcok currently serves as Associate Professor at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario.Dr. Korcok is the author of Lutheran Education: From Wittenberg to the Future (CPH, 2013) which explores the historical use of the classical liberal arts by the Lutheran Church.
By disclosing the theological assumptions of the thinkers who have given us today's educational theories and methods, Dr. Korcock shows their hidden agendas and the harm they have done to America's schools and the young people who attend them. He also asks why so many Christians have followed these approaches, even though they were designed to undermine the Christian faith. He goes on, though, to challenge Christians to rediscover their own educational heritage, namely, classical Christian education. --Gene Edward Veith, Ph.D.Professor & Provost EmeritusPatrick Henry College
