Brielle Brilliant (aka Pavli) is a filmmaker, writer, and environmental educator. Much of their work centers land and queer, alienated youth—inspired by their own (and now reformed) teenage nihilism. Their film, Firstness, received the Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Narrative Features (Outfest 2021) and exhibited at MoMA. They're the author of the books The Spud (Featherproof Books) and The Curtsy Family (Thoughtcrime Press), which received the Lorien Book Prize in 2018. They are also the co-founder of the mutual-aid-focused collective Purpose Repair Shop and help facilitate various Locatings. They spend most of their time with trees, mbps, and 16mm film.
