Marguerite Bunce grew up in Ingleburn, south-west of Sydney and graduated from Sydney University with honours in English Lit. The poems in Phloem were written while casual teaching in Sydney's inner west. 'Margaret Preston's Vases Speak' was short-listed for the Newcastle Poetry Prize and she was awarded the Harri Jones Memorial Prize. 'Die Back' was written with an Australia Council grant. 'undercarriage' from A Mechanical Life was recently short-listed for the Calanthe poetry competition. Her libretto 'The Remedy' won the Australian Music Centre's New Opera Competition. Her poems are mostly dramatic monologues, which led her to an MA in Scriptwriting from AFTRS (the Australian Film Television and Radio School). She has worked as a script assessor and script editor for various produced feature films. Her stories have appeared in online magazine Dorothy Parker's Ashes. She was recently long-listed for the Peter Porter Prize. She currently lives in France.
