ABBEY'S BOOKSELLER PICK ----- The traditional five senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste and feeling – are amazing enough in a human, but many animals have better and different perceptions of the world around them. Around 140 creatures feature in this colourful book; small paragraphs describe each one's super sense. Arranged thematically and by type – marsupials, arthropods, frogs for instance, or fussy feeders, stingers, tool-users – there are also break-out sensational facts included on the double page spreads (Little Penguins eat their body weight in small fish etc daily; Whale Sharks have tiny teeth on their eyeballs). Cher Hart's illustrations are softly realistic and quietly toned. A fascinating look at our animals through their abilities to know the world around them! Ages 8-11. Lindy
